Overseer Khalil D. F. Koger was born and raised in Orangeburg, SC, where he grew up attending Greater Faith Baptist Church under the leadership of his first pastor, the late Rev. Dr. N. L. A. Griffin. His early experiences in the church, along with the influence of his grandmother, the late Patricia Y. H. Koger, affectionately known as "Sugah Bear," laid the foundation for his strong relationship with Christ. His grandmother instilled in him the importance of being an educated Black man and actively serving in church.
Overseer Koger’s journey in ministry was further shaped by his late Godfather, Dr. Quan D. Glover, who came into his life as a father figure. Dr. Glover instilled in him the core values of manhood, while also pastoring and training him in ministry. In December 2014, Overseer Koger fully embraced his divine calling and began preaching the Word of God, after serving many years as a musician and Minister of Music.
In 2014, Overseer Koger received his ministerial license at New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL, under the leadership of Pastor Ernest L. Taylor. He was ordained as an Elder in 2020 under Apostle Roderick O. Davenport Sr. In 2021, he was installed by his childhood pastor, Pastor Darryl E. Edwards II of Greater Bethany Baptist Church, where Overseer Koger had served as musician, choir director, and youth president.
Overseer Koger’s commitment to leadership has led him to serve in multiple key roles within the church. He was the Youth Pastor of Empowerment Worship Center - Orangeburg Campus and the COO and Chief Adjutant of Global Empowerment Fellowship Inc. Currently, he serves as Overseer of Administration for Builders Connect Kingdom Alliance, led by Apostle Sharell Eadie in Charleston, SC. Additionally, he is the Pastor and Founder of Kingdom Builders International Church in Orangeburg, SC, and the General Overseer of Kingdom Builders International Fellowship Inc., a fellowship of churches dedicated to spiritual growth and empowerment.
Overseer Koger is not only a leader in ministry but also an accomplished author and creative. He is the author of "Creative Communion", a 31-day devotional for Christian creatives, and a producer and artist. His latest musical release is an arrangement of "The Blood" featuring the United House of Prayer Brass Band, available on all major media outlets.
In addition to his pastoral and creative work, Overseer Koger is the founder of several impactful organizations, including the Koger Leadership Institute Inc., which mentors young men, and Thrive Impact Group, a ministry consulting service. His ministry focuses on preaching, leadership, worship, and youth development, and is guided by core principles of empowerment, purpose-driven ministry, and spiritual cultivation.
